The Grain Silos at Welfare Square Will Be Empty

The photo above shows Welfare Square in downtown Salt Lake City, owned and operated by the Mormon Church. The complex includes a 178-foot grain silo, a cannery, a bakery, and a milk-processing plant. These facilities are used to produce food and goods that are distributed to those in need through the Church's welfare system. But did you know that Bishop Koyle prophesied that this silo will be empty during the coming famine? 😳

...He was told by the messenger that the Church program to care for the poor would all be used up during the first and second years of famine, that the mine would bring relief during the third year and would carry on the relief from the third year on.

So how will an ancient Nephite gold mine offer relief to people who are starving? Simple. A one-million-bushel grain storage bin will be built right on the side of the mountain. This is over 3 times as large as the silos at Welfare Square! These bins will be built one below the other, allowing us to let the grain from the top bin run down into the next, and then down into the third and fourth bins at the lowest level. Think of a stair-step design.

This treasure house would have several missions--one of which was to build huge storage bins and fill them with grain, just as Joseph did in Egypt. The real purposes of the mine would then be fully understood. Many would be saved from starvation, financial ruin, and other calamities. The Mormon people, too, would succumb to many of the perils that would come, for they would suffer temporal and spiritual bondage. (See D&C 103:17) In this crisis, the Church would exhaust its resources and means to help its members. Thus, this venture would become a means of providing food and supplies to a poor and humbled people in distress. This mine would then be known as the "Relief Mine".

Part of the miracle will be that the concrete pours take place during the winter, with no danger of the concrete being ruined.

...this would rapidly make possible the launching of a great construction program for grain bins and buildings for the beautiful White City. There would be no danger of the concrete freezing, and people all around would marvel at the mild winter.

This past winter we broke all records with how mild it was, but there was still some snow in Utah. It sounds like this future winter will be even more mild!

Bishop Koyle also told his miners that we would have nine months to store the grain, that we would purchase it for $.50 per bushel, and this would be the longest that money would be any good. This is an indication that the grain will be purchased after the dollar devaluation that starts the civil war, because wheat right now is over $7.00 per bushel.

...this plan, said Bishop Koyle, will put the grain upon our property where no one can molest it, where we can make distribution as we see fit. All eyes are to look toward us for relief.

Prepare for Famine

Bishop Koyle said the time would come when one could not buy a bushel of wheat for a bushel of gold. Entire states would be depopulated, with not enough people living to bury the dead. This, in turn, would cause a great influx of refugees into these Utah valleys, mostly women and children.

A wise person, then, would buy some wheat, store enough for others, and use diatomaceous earth to deter bugs. Start using wheat now so you can get accustomed to it. Get a quality manual or electric grinder. Collect bread recipes that only need four ingredients: wheat, water, salt, and oil. Get a good copper-ceramic waffle maker and a cast-iron pan for pancakes, muffin tins for muffins, and good bread pans for bread. Learn how to make tortillas. Plus, don't forget that bread will be a great barter item!

You can also sprout wheat for your daily greens. The D&C says wheat for man, but the Lord meant the heirloom grains of that time, such as spelt, einkorn, kamut (Khorasan), and emmer. Learn to make Ezekiel bread: “Take also unto thee wheat, and barley, and beans, and lentils, and millet, and spelt, and put them in one vessel…” (Ezekiel 4:9).

Not All Wheat is Equal

Most people assume wheat is wheat. It isn’t. Einkorn is a special wheat that has been cultivated for thousands of years. The wheat in most grocery store products today—modern bread wheat—didn’t emerge until the 1940s, when it was engineered for higher yields, not higher nutrition.

Then there’s the gluten question. Einkorn does contain gluten—but it’s a different kind. Modern wheat has been hybridized over centuries, picking up a “D genome” that einkorn simply doesn’t have. Einkorn has two sets of chromosomes. Modern wheat has six. Less complexity in the grain often means less work for your body and easier digestion.

Put simply, einkorn is closer to its original form. And a lot of people find that their bodies know the difference. In fact, many who are "gluten intolerant", find they can eat organic einkorn bread with no problem. (See Real Reason Wheat is Toxic)
