A great world-wide famine, according to Bishop Koyle, would be in full swing when the Relief Mine starts providing "relief".  In addition to minting gold coins, the mine will also store one millions bushels of wheat to feed those that flee to this area.  Below is a short video clip detailing just how bad things are, right now, across the globe.  The same types of shortages and sky-rocketing prices are affecting rice too!
