What is the Relief Mine?

This fascinating story began in August of 1914. Two heavenly messengers showed Bishop John H. Koyle an ancient Nephite gold mine near his home in Salem, Utah. He was told that this mine would begin to produce after the United States experiences a devastating financial collapse. The gold from the mine will be the means of keeping the local economy alive.

Like Joseph of Egypt, the mine will also play an important role in the coming famine. Grain silos will be built and store one million bushels of wheat. This will be used to feed the people along the Wasatch Front.

Many people will flee to the Rocky Mountains, as seen by the prophet Joseph Smith, when these future calamities take place. This gold mine will provide the financial means to build and maintain the political Kingdom of God as it grows to become the most powerful kingdom on earth.

Followers of Utah farmer say time is nigh for Nephite riches to be revealed BY PHIL MILLER

SALEM -- The Nephites were the first to find the gold, tons and tons of it, riches that would humble all of the wealth of Bill Gates, the Sultan of Brunei and the Queen of England put together. But abundance made the Nephites in The Book of Mormon prideful and greedy, and their treasures finally were seized by a wrathful God more than 2,000 years ago, and collected in nine great caverns. The colossal vaults are supported by enormous golden columns and piled high with ornaments and artifacts and priceless records documenting the ancient roots of the Mormon Church and the Nephites.

And the bountiful chambers are surrounded by the richest lode of gold ore ever found on Earth, more gold than could be extracted in several generations. Of course, nothing has ever been found that remotely indicates such a fabulous stockpile ever existed, but that hasn't stopped some Utahns from believing in it.

Salt Lake Weekly - December 27, 2007

By Eric S. Peterson

People who routinely drive along U.S. Highway 91 between Spanish Fork and Payson have come to consider the oddly futuristic, white-stone mill built into the hillside as part of the scenery.

Utah County's "Dream Mine," as it's been known for more than a century, rarely turns up in conversation, either.

It seems most people would rather not discuss the mine's ancient and fabled promise: wealth beyond imagination, where rivers of precious gold and platinum course beneath the docile farm community. What's more, nine vaults are said to lie deep within the mine, filled with the treasures left by an ancient race from the Book of Mormon known as the Nephites. As legend goes, the Nephites' wealth was set aside for God's chosen people during a time of uncertainty as a blessing to fortify the faithful against the ensuing chaos of the apocalypse.
